I'm finally 37 weeks pregnant which means baby Hendo could be making an appearence at anytime. I started packing for our trip to the birth center so we are all ready to go when the fun starts!
Laboring at the birth center is a bit different then at the hospital. Most women stay at the hospital for a few days after giving birth, but at the birth center I will only be staying for about 6 hours after birth, so my packing list may be a little lighter compared to someone who is staying at the hospital. Also the birth center doesn't have some of the things that the hospital provides so some of things might be a little strange (lol, depends and bed pads?) Anyway, take a look at what will be riding with me to Savannah!

First up is Nash's bag:
1) Nash's first "wubbie" given to him from his Grammy (my mother) 2) A crocheted blanket made by his grandma (Ryan's Mother) I am hoping to use this in pictures of Nash after the birth. 3) New born diapers which came from the Birth Center Pack that I bought (more on that later.) These will only be used while we are at the birth center, we will be cloth diapering at home. 4) its kind of hard to see in this picture but in the plastic bag is a soother or pacifier. Im not sure if we will use this yet, but I figure that I better bring it just incase. 5) Cloth wipes, since it is advised not to use regular wipes on your newborn, plus they are softer on baby's skin! 6) burp clothes made by one of my family friends! 7) A receiving blanket. I'm pretty sure the birth center has some to use while we are there, but we can't take them home with us so I am bringing our own. 8) 4 different going home outfits because I don't know what time of the day we will be leaving the birth center or how big Nash will be! The onesie sets will be used if we leave during the day and it's hot out outside, and the jammy sets will be used if we leave at night.

All of baby's things will go in this JJ Cole Diaper Bag. I got this one from Toys R Us for pretty cheap. (hey mamas! Toys r Us will price match anything found online, even on amazon.com!)
Ryan's bag was pretty simple, just an old pair of swim trunks to wear in the birthing tub, a change of clothes, and a toothbrush, deodorant, and mouth wash.
Mama's bag is a bit more complicated. As far as clothing goes I ended up packing: 1) a night gown to labor in. 2) a top to wear in the birthing tub and bottoms that can get wet. 3) 3 changes of "granny panties" as seen in my earlier post. 4) a pair of walking shoes to wear outside. The birth center has a nice walking area that I might be spending some time in to help with labor pains and to get some fresh air. 5) socks. 6) a robe. 7) a PinkBlush Maternity nursing dress just incase I feel like looking cute when we head home . 8) yoga pants and a tank top if I feel like bumming it when we head home. 9) flip flops 10) a hoodie because I'm always freezing. 11) a bag to put all of my dirty clothing in. Not shown because it hasnt come in yet: a nursing bra.

The next items are probably TMI but whatever. My birth Center asks you to bring a few things that they don't supply that a hospital usually would. I was asked to bring my own large disposable pads, overnight bed pads, and then some depends-like-underwear. Even though the birth center didn't supply these things they do sell them at the little midwifery store they run. I bought all of these things, plus 6 new born diapers in their "birth center pack" for 18 dollars, which saved me around 15 dollars if i would have bought it all on my own!
I also packed some comfort items which include 1) a heating pad. I made my own because we try to save money at our house. Mine is just a tube sock filled with rice that I warm up in the microwave. Ive been using it throughout my whole pregnancy and it works like a charm. 2) My Bunny blanket. 3) a Bass Egg. If you don't have one of these you should get one! Its a bluetooth speaker that you can play on different surfaces to get different sounds. It sounds great and is so useful. We will be making a birth playlist and playing it through our Bass Egg. We hope to bring Baby Hendo into the world with our favorite DJs, Above & Beyond, playing our favorite set of theirs. 4) peppermint essential oil. 5) chapstick 6) Tums because I get indigestion so badly!

And finally, I can't forget a girls best friend, Make Up! I'm not brining my whole makeup collection, just the basics. I have a BB cream, powder, eyeliner, eyebrow powder, mascara, and eyeshadow incase I'm feeling really fabulous. I know it sounds vain but I know i'll feel a lot better in pictures if I have at least a little bit of makeup on my face.
I've also packed up a phone charger, a portable charger, and our camera plus its charger.

Here's a little list that I used to help me pack. Feel free to use it if you need to, too!
I cannot believe that Nash will be here soon. Packing just made things so real!

Ster
